A few ideas that I have embelished have come from a draft paper "Experiences with Chemistry ConcepTests" by Arthur B. Ellis and Ann Cappellari, Department of Chemistry, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Some ideas have resulted from a consideration of lecture demonstrations described by Shakashari and most I have just invented myself.
