1998 Summer Session

June 8	Monday.  Summer Session begins.  (See Appendix C for 
	complete calendar.)

 Semester I 1998-99

August 1 	Saturday.  Last day for payment of charges.
September 2	Wednesday.  Beginning of Orientation.
Sept 2-Sept 4	Wednesday through Friday.  Registration of graduate 	
		students.
September 8	Tuesday.   Classes of the first semester begin.  	
		Instructor's signature is required to add a course.  	
		Opening Convocation 11 AM.
September 21	Monday.  Last day to add a course without a fee.
October 5	Monday.  Last day to change a grade option 		
		declaration.
October 12	Monday.  Columbus Day Holiday.  No University 
exercises.
October 16	Friday.  Mid-semester deadline.  Last day to add a 
course.  Last day to change from audit to 	credit or credit to audit in 
a course.	
Oct 19-30	Monday through Friday.  Registration for Semester II.
Nov. 25-29	Wednesday noon to Sunday.  Thanksgiving recess.
November 30	Monday.  Classes resume.
December 1	Tuesday.  Deadline for declaring a leave for Sem. II 
or to confirm readmission for Sem. II
December 6	Sunday.  Beginning of Reading Period.
December 10	Thursday.  Classes end for courses not observing the 
Reading Period.  Last day to drop a course 	or to file for an 
incomplete.
Dec. 11-19	Friday through Saturday.  Final Examination Period.	

Semester II 1998-99

January 1	Friday.  Last day for payment of charges.
January 18	Monday.  Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  No 	
		University exercises.
January 20-26	Wednesday through Tuesday.  Registration of new 	
		and readmitted graduate students for the second 	
		semester.
January 27	Wednesday.  Classes of the second semester begin.  	
		Instructor's signature is required to add a course.  	
		Theses of candidates for Masters and Ph.D. degrees 	
		in May (on Semester I registration 	fee) due.
February 9	Tuesday.  Last day to add a course without a fee.
February 20-23	Saturday through Tuesday.  Long weekend.  No 	
		University exercises.
February 24	Wednesday.  Last day to change a grade option 	
		declaration.
March 12	Friday.  Mid-semester deadline.  Last day to add a 	
		course.  Last day to change from audit to credit or 	
		credit to audit in a course.  
Mar 27-Apr 4	Saturday through Sunday.  Spring recess.
April 5	Monday.  Classes resume.
April 19-30	Monday through Friday.  Registration for Semester I, 	
		1999-2000.
Apr. 30-May 11	Friday through Tuesday.  Reading Period.
May 1	Saturday.  Theses of candidates for Masters and Ph.D. degrees 
		in May due.
May 11	Tuesday.  Classes end for courses not observing the Reading 	
		Period.  Last day to drop a course or to file for an 	
		incomplete.
May 12-21	Wednesday through Friday.  Final Examination 	
		Period.
May 31	Monday.  Commencement.
June 1	Tuesday.  Deadline to declare a leave or to confirm 		
		readmission for Sem I.


Semester I 1999-2000

September 7	Tuesday.  Opening of the 1999-2000 Academic Year.
