1997 Summer Session

June 9	Monday.  Summer Session begins.  (See Appendix C for 	
	complete calendar.)

 Semester I 1997-98

August 1 	Friday.  Last day for payment of charges.
August 27	Wednesday.  Beginning of Orientation.
Aug 27-29	Wednesday through Friday.  Registration of graduate 	
		students.
September 2	Tuesday.   Classes of the first semester begin.  	
		Instructor's signature is required to add a course.  	
		Opening Convocation 11 AM.
September 15	Monday.  Last day to add a course without a fee.
September 29	Monday.  Last day to change a grade option 		
		declaration.
October 13	Monday.  Columbus Day Holiday.  No University 	
		exercises.
October 17	Friday.  Mid-semester deadline.  Last day to add a 	
		course.  Last day to change from audit to credit or 	
		credit to audit in a course.	
Oct 20-31	Monday through Friday.  Registration for Semester II.
Nov. 26-30	Wednesday noon to Sunday.  Thanksgiving recess.
December 1	Monday.  Classes resume.
December 1	Monday.  Deadline for declaring a leave for Sem. II 	
		or to confirm readmission for Sem. II
December 7	Sunday.  Beginning of Reading Period.
December 11	Thursday.  Classes end for courses not observing the 	
		Reading Period.  Last day to drop a course or to file 	
		for an incomplete.
Dec. 12-20	Friday through Saturday.  Final Examination Period.	

Semester II 1997-98

January 1	Thursday.  Last day for payment of charges.
January 19	Monday.  Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  No 	
		University exercises.
January 14-20	Wednesday through Tuesday.  Registration of new 	
		and readmitted graduate students for the second 	
		semester.
January 21	Wednesday.  Classes of the second semester begin. 	
		Instructor's signature is required to add a course.  	
		Theses of candidates for Masters and Ph.D. degrees 	
		in May (on Semester I registration fee) due.
February 3	Tuesday.  Last day to add a course without a fee.
February 14-17	Saturday through Tuesday.  Long weekend.  No 	
		University exercises.
February 18	Wednesday.  Last day to change a grade option 	
		declaration.
March 6	Friday.  Mid-semester deadline.  Last day to add a course.  	
		Last day to change from audit to credit or credit to 	
		audit in a course.  
Mar 21-29	Saturday through Sunday.  Spring recess.
March 30	Monday.  Classes resume.
April 13-24	Monday through Friday.  Registration for Semester I, 	
		1998-99.
Apr. 24-May 5	Friday through Tuesday.  Reading Period.
May 1	Wednesday.  Theses of candidates for Masters and Ph.D. 	
		degrees in May due.
May 5	Tuesday.  Classes end for courses not observing the Reading 	
		Period.  Last day to drop a course or to file for an 	
		incomplete.
May 6-15	Wednesday through Friday.  Final Examination 	
		Period.
May 25	Monday.  Commencement.
June 1	Monday.  Deadline to declare a leave or to confirm 		
		readmission for Sem I.


Semester I 1998-99
